The Second Annual My Non Leather Life Holiday Gift Guide
On the first day of Christmas my true love sent to me…..
1 vegan boyfriend. Ok. That’s not happening…but in place of that….how about a large down-free vegan body pillow?
AHEM…It’s time for the Second Annual My Non Leather Life Holiday Gift Guide
Good presents to give and get:
1. A Vitamix
(photo from the excellent raw food blog outletforfoodpicturesocd)
The vitamix is the ultimate blender. Don’t waste your money on any thing else cause I broke two cheap blenders before this one. This one will last forever and is worth it because I have used mine literally every single day since I got it and it has done more for my health than any thing else. I would throw in a copy of the ultimate fruitarian bible with this one…
And also throw in Raw Family by Victoria Boutenko, which is one of the most fascinating books I’ve ever read about a family whose lives were changed when then became raw vegans.
With these books and a note to follow Freelee the Banana Girl and Durianrider on youtube, this person’s life is about to change.
2. We Animals by Jo-Anne McArthur
Ok, this book looks awesome. I can’t wait to read what Jo-Anne McArthur has to say about her photographs. An incredibly beautiful gift idea is also to order a print from We Animals, Jo-Anne’s website, which my mom did for me last year. I love mine and every time I look at it I see so much meaning behind it. A true work of art.
You can look through prints on Jo-Anne’s website and buy your favorite. The prints are huge and more beautiful than you think they will be.
3. Save a pig at The Pig Preserve
Give a donation in someone’s name at The Pig Preserve and they will have money to accept more pigs that they have to turn away due to lack of funds and give them a truly wonderful life. One can donate here.
4. A King Arthur hoodie for your vegan boyfriend or girlfriend or any of the cool stuff from my cool vegan shoes pinterest page.
This is just…really cool. I bought one for myself. It is made of fleece, which is vegan. Some courtly inspiration for you…
5. A dog
Yes, adopt a dog for your family or adopt one with your significant other. There is no better present than a dog from a kid’s point of view (and really from anyone’s point of view) and it will be highly beneficial for the dog as well, if you adopt one from a shelter.
6. A good camera so that you can spread the vegan message on youtube and make friends
This year I’ve learned so much from youtube. I changed my diet completely to mostly raw vegan/fruitarian and learned how to make my athletic ability skyrocket thanks to vegan bloggers on youtube. They are an army out there spreading the vegan message. It’s awesome. Join in, and you can meet people that way too and make friends. Vlog about veganism or fruitarianism or whatever and people will find you. It is pretty cool. I’ve heard this is a good camera to start with. This is around $100, the Canon Powershot Elph 330. and it is supposedly a great camera for video that uploads to youtube through wifi and is recommended by hardcore youtubers so you gotta trust them.
7. Adorable Parisian loafers by Good Guys Don’t Wear Leather
8. Beautiful glass products from my 7 year old brother (and his mom’s) company glassery.com
He bought me this bowl for Christmas and he was soo excited about it. It was so cute. And the bowl is really awesome. It is porcelain with a beautiful wooden lid that fits perfectly. I love it. They sell glass water bottles which I’ve been meaning to buy. He tells me all the time about the dangers of plastic and how it is bad for fish. He gave up fish because he doesn’t think he should eat fish if he is trying to save fish with his glass products company that hopes to eradicate plastic bottles.
9. You can never go wrong with Lush products (the vegan ones) or 10. vegan company Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetic lip tars
Ok. I ran out of ideas.
What are your favorite things? Vegan or not? Gift ideas?
Love this list! Especially the loafers and the prints from Jo Ann McArthur. I’d ask for a few Hanky Panky undies. Not purposely vegan, but comfy and pricier than I would like to spend. I’d want to have an animal sponsored in my name (from a place like the Pig Preserve). I want to read “Mind if I Order the Cheeseburger,” so seeing that book under the tree would be great. If someone wants to splurge, please buy me a coat from Vaute! But I’d be happy with a shirt from Herbivore :)
Aww thanks Jean! I love hanky panky!! I got mine on amazon because of all the great reviews, looking for five star underwear lol. I also want to read Mind if I order the cheeseburger after seeing Robert recommend it too as one of his top vegan books of all time. Happy Holidays!
some great things here. love the glassery stuff. And I hadn’t heard of ‘mind if I order the cheeseburger’ before. so I’ve looked that up.
and yes, totally, wow, the vitamix! it’s amazing!
Thanks Londonlime!! My brother will be so happy to hear you liked glassery. :D
