1 Week of Going Raw and the Amazing Victoria Boutenko

Raw Desserts!

So, as some of you may know, I became a vegan last year after reading the book The Lucky Ones by Jenny Brown.

That book was hilarious, and quite a page turner…it also managed to turn me vegan from lapsed vegan. Well, now I have gone even farther. I am experimenting with 1 week of Raw Veganism. I’m on Day 4. So far, so good.

Ever since my interview about green smoothies with Natalie, I have been more interested in health. She recommended the books of Victoria Boutenko, and the first one I read, Green For Life, changed my life.

I hear it has that effect on many people–check out the amazon reviews. I started understanding the importance of leaves in my life, and making smoothies with huge bunches of leaves in them every day for me and my dad. Now I have got my mom hooked, and I am working on my sisters.

Victoria Boutenko is an amazing amazing writer. There is just something about the way she writes which has you on the edge of your seat, awed and laughing in amazement. She has a lot of interesting ideas that are very outside the norm. Anyway, she is a raw foodist. So naturally, she made raw food fascinating.

Finally I read her book Raw Family which is about how her family went from having problems ranging from juvenile diabetes, to a tumor, to a stroke, to depression and heart problems…basically her and her husband along with their two kids were extremely sick and at rock bottom. They started a raw food diet, and their whole life changed. They healed from the diseases, and hiked the Pacific Coast Trail together eating only wild edibles i.e weeds and plants along the trail. It is crazy! and awesome. The book takes about an hour to read, and is also very life changing for many people I hear. Well, it was for me, as the next day I started a raw food trial.

The more I read about raw food the more I see that everywhere you look, everyone who has tried it raves about the benefits. People have been cured from diseases left and right. If you are sick, you must at least check it out. It could save your life. OF course, everything must be put to the test, so that is why I am experimenting on a one week trial. I have some problems, like terrible cramps for 3 days a month, that I will be very interested to see if it has any effect on.

Well, I have never eaten so many healthy foods in my life as I have the last 4 days.  Wow, it is hard, but it is also interesting. The more you look into raw food the more you hear these incredible stories of mental and physical transformation. Supposedly, you have tons more energy, mental clarity, —basically like superpowers. I had to give it a go.

Anyway, I will let you know how it goes.

Also, I found this cool blog of a 19 year old raw person very fun to read. This Rawsome Vegan Life.

Has anyone else had experience experimenting with raw veganism? I’d love to discuss. And check out Victoria Boutenko and prepare to fall under her spell.

Great New Developments. Where To Find Cool Vegan Shoes–New and Improved Edition

Today is a great day because I updated my two most popular posts on this blog.

1. My Article Where to Find Cool Vegan Shoes Online was totally outdated. I had become one of those articles about where to buy vegan clothing that I despise. You know the ones…the ones that are like, “There are SO many options for fashionable vegan clothing out there!” They give you a list, and when you click on the links, none of them work or they take you to horrible websites with barely any options. It’s so frustrating. It’s the whole reason I started this website to begin with. Anyway, I updated it. I’ve learned so much more about how to search for vegan shoes on the web, and I added rules of thumb, tips and tricks, commentary about “Unintentionally Vegan” shoes and “Intentionally Vegan” companies. It’s much improved.

Let me know what you think by the way. And if you are a vegan company who I forgot about, please comment below and let me know!

2. My About Me page was also totally outdated. So much has changed since I last updated it. For one thing, I’m now a vegan, and totally passionate about animal rights. Whereas before I was posting mostly only shoe and bag options, now I feel like I’m thinking and wanting to write more about what I’m interested in. Things like health ( I’m on a week of Raw Veganism right now!!) and also amazing animal rights heroes–companies, shop owners, organizations, and film makers (Ghosts in Our Machine much?)

I read many blogs, and personally I love to know about the blogger behind it all. So I tried to oblige. There’s a intriguing photo of me in there too hehe. Let me know if you have ideas about stuff I should add.

Happy Tuesday!
