My June Vegan Favorites
Summer is here and the fruit is heavenly. I have been eating a lot of fruitarian cereal breakfasts. Today I put this amazing peach in the banana mylk and it was divine.
I have been kind of at a loss of what to write about lately. So I thought I would share some great tips like in my last post, of things I have been really in to of late. Kind of like a June Favorites video on youtube.
My Top 5 Vegan June Favorites:
1. Fruitarian Cereal
I got this idea from a fully raw kristina video, but basically all you need are:
–dried mulberries for the granola or cereal component
–banana mylk (i.e a blended banana with water and ice) for the milk
– fresh fruit and berries like blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, sliced bananas, peaches
optional- raisins, dried figs, dates, flax seeds to sprinkle on top
It tastes exactly like cereal! I know you probably won’t believe me till you’ve tried it, but I ate it for breakfast and lunch today. Here are some additional pro tips:
1. Don’t use too many mulberries. Use less than you would think. Just a handful is enough. Too much and they start tasting a bit bland weirdly enough, but in the right amount they taste really sweet.
2. Put ice in your banana mylk. The ice gives it the taste of cold cereal milk from the fridge.
3. Don’t forget to use a spotted banana for your banana milk, it will make the milk taste much sweeter.
2. These Hilarious Parody Videos of Happy Healthy Vegan and Durianrider and Freelee
I found these on youtube today and GOLD MINE. It was as if youtube stars Happy Healthy Vegan and Durian Rider and Freelee, all of whom I have learned a ton from and enjoy watching greatly, had been parodied on SNL. I was dying of laughter. So spot on. HEHHAHHAHAHHA.
And while we are at it, check out these before and afters of Ryan and Anji I found:

Let me know if you guys find these as funny as I do in the comments below hehe.
3. Top 20 Tips I Wish I Knew 20 Years Ago When I Started on a Raw Foods Diet
I watched this long lecture by John Kohler last night which he gave at Woodstock Fruit Festival Hawaii about his best tips for any one into raw foods. I was so impressed by him at the Woodstock fruit festival last year. He is so knowledgeable and his 20 tips were really educational. Some of the tips I liked the most were keeping a food diary and writing down how you feel after you eat certain foods, the idea of never using an alarm clock, the importance of growing your own food, and the importance of getting a wide variety of plants in your diet.
Put it on while you are doing something else in the background and learn from a guy who knows a ton about health. I think he has the most popular gardening channel on youtube and I can’t wait to use some of his tips if I ever have a garden one day.
4. High Carb Hannah’s Youtube Channel and her E Book Raw till Whenever
I have been really impressed with High Carb Hannah’s youtube channel lately. She makes really informative videos. The way she lost 50 pounds was just by focusing completely on unprocessed vegan whole foods–not caring about whether she was sometimes eating more raw or more starches, not really caring about keeping fat under 10% as long as it was from whole foods like avocados or nuts.
I had bought her e book a while back and was very impressed with her recipes and how she made eating healthy seem so simple by focusing on the concept of whole foods. Today I tried one of her salad dressing recipes and it was amazing. I also want to try making the acai bowl she showed how to make on her youtube channel. Check her out if you don’t know her already.
5. My Cherry Bowl from Amazon
I got this great bowl for eating cherries on amazon. It has a bowl underneath the bowl that you can put the cherry pits in, and it just makes eating cherries very enjoyable.
