1 Week of Going Raw and the Amazing Victoria Boutenko

Raw Desserts!

So, as some of you may know, I became a vegan last year after reading the book The Lucky Ones by Jenny Brown.

That book was hilarious, and quite a page turner…it also managed to turn me vegan from lapsed vegan. Well, now I have gone even farther. I am experimenting with 1 week of Raw Veganism. I’m on Day 4. So far, so good.

Ever since my interview about green smoothies with Natalie, I have been more interested in health. She recommended the books of Victoria Boutenko, and the first one I read, Green For Life, changed my life.

I hear it has that effect on many people–check out the amazon reviews. I started understanding the importance of leaves in my life, and making smoothies with huge bunches of leaves in them every day for me and my dad. Now I have got my mom hooked, and I am working on my sisters.

Victoria Boutenko is an amazing amazing writer. There is just something about the way she writes which has you on the edge of your seat, awed and laughing in amazement. She has a lot of interesting ideas that are very outside the norm. Anyway, she is a raw foodist. So naturally, she made raw food fascinating.

Finally I read her book Raw Family which is about how her family went from having problems ranging from juvenile diabetes, to a tumor, to a stroke, to depression and heart problems…basically her and her husband along with their two kids were extremely sick and at rock bottom. They started a raw food diet, and their whole life changed. They healed from the diseases, and hiked the Pacific Coast Trail together eating only wild edibles i.e weeds and plants along the trail. It is crazy! and awesome. The book takes about an hour to read, and is also very life changing for many people I hear. Well, it was for me, as the next day I started a raw food trial.

The more I read about raw food the more I see that everywhere you look, everyone who has tried it raves about the benefits. People have been cured from diseases left and right. If you are sick, you must at least check it out. It could save your life. OF course, everything must be put to the test, so that is why I am experimenting on a one week trial. I have some problems, like terrible cramps for 3 days a month, that I will be very interested to see if it has any effect on.

Well, I have never eaten so many healthy foods in my life as I have the last 4 days.  Wow, it is hard, but it is also interesting. The more you look into raw food the more you hear these incredible stories of mental and physical transformation. Supposedly, you have tons more energy, mental clarity, —basically like superpowers. I had to give it a go.

Anyway, I will let you know how it goes.

Also, I found this cool blog of a 19 year old raw person very fun to read. This Rawsome Vegan Life.

Has anyone else had experience experimenting with raw veganism? I’d love to discuss. And check out Victoria Boutenko and prepare to fall under her spell.

Ok guys, it’s here. YAY! Here is the interview I was talking about in my last post that I did with film director Liz Marshall of the upcoming film The Ghosts in Our Machine. I think you will really enjoy listening to Liz talk about The Ghosts in Our Machine.

Well, this film is going to be something big. If you watched the trailer you know it’s gonna be good. I can’t wait. If you did look into The Ghosts in Our Machine, let me know what you think. Let’s discuss! I am excited. And a final Thank you so much to Liz, not just for doing the interview but for making this film (not to mention the website that has a lot of cool things and upcoming stuff on it, along with vegan coaching) that I think will have a big effect on whoever sees it.

And might I add a thank you to my readers while I am at it (academy awards style)….interaction with you guys and even knowing people were reading this blog made me interested in going deeper into the world of animal rights…I feel more passionate and convinced than ever before that this stuff is important and the next frontier. Thanks guys.

Thanks Liz!
