My 1 Week Long Fruitarian Self Experiment: Does Fruit Make You More Beautiful?

(you should check out fruitarian loni jane’s blog, if you haven’t already aleven11.tumblr.com)

Ok here is my plan.

I have been telling people for a while now on this blog that the more fruit you eat, the better you look in my experience, and what I’ve noticed the most is the better your face and skin looks.

It’s hard to explain. It is subtle. But you look literally prettier. It is kind of disturbing.

But I am going to try to put my money where my mouth is and prove this to you.

Since I have not been eating that much fruit at all lately, though still sticking to high carb, low fat vegan…

I am going to make a goal for the next week of eating

1500 calories a day from fruit.

Then I will take a screenshot of my fruit intake which I’ll track on cronometer and post it on Facebook, along with a picture of my face.

I will do this starting tomorrow, Saturday till next Saturday, the day of my birthday party!!!

I will see if I look super good on that day.

Anyone want to take the challenge with me? That would be awesome!! You could modify it to only like 1,000 calories of fruit and I bet still notice a big difference.

If you choose to partake, I recommend downloading the cronometer app on your phone and making 2 batches of 5 banana banana mylk a day for a total of 1,000 calories, and getting another 500 cals of oranges or some other fruit. This is gonna be tough, but sooo great! And I know my face is going to look better. It’s so weird, but I have noticed this works. But. I must test this though. Maybe it’s all in my head.

And I will let you know if I notice any differences.

(Loni Jane after adopting 80/10/10 ish raw till 4 lifestyle)

My hypothesis is that I will. Oh the good old scientific method!!!

I promise to be honest and uphold the highest standards of rationality and science.

And, hold me to this experiment, people! My mind is made up.

weird but I started this experiment TODAY. I did all raw all day – fruit and cucumbers today. I’m 31 and I’ve been vegan on and off, but I have like, a lingering 6 pounds I want to lose and some acne that only cropped up in the last year. I’m a professional dancer and I live in transit 24/7 – either at someones house (right now my in-laws), rehearsal apartments, or in a cabin on a cruise ship. I thought raw would be hard – but today was easy so we’ll see. I want abundant energy and to eat optimally. I’m here with ya :)

WOW you are living my dream COCO. Just saw this comment. I love pole dancing and anything that lets me hang upside down. I want to be an aerialist too. How cool. I will definitely be following your blog. How is the raw thing going for you? I totally fell of the wagon on this and was just going to take down this post, but then saw your comment. I still want to do this experiment but yeah….haha. How did it go??

Lets do the experiment!!! It went super well for a few weeks. I wasn’t 100% raw but I only ate cooked at night and it was plain sweet potatoes, oats, rice, some beans, even bread but not excessive. I also drank wine, coffee with soy milk and lots of tea. So my days were filled with grapes, bananas apples, carrots, raw salads dressed in lemon juice and black pepper (the bomb!), snacking on cucumber… It was fabulous, but I was traveling and am still. When I got to Vegas to see my sister it started to be a bit harder. I’m still vegan of course, but there was some dressing on my salad (forgot to ask for none), a lot of spirits (I’m not sorry), more soy lattes and some things like crackers, chocolate covered raisins, some french fries…. I don’t feel bad but I feel less good if that makes sense. Today I’m flying again and I’ll be in intense rehearsals but we’ll have a kitchen so I’ll be eating mostly raw again (thank goodness. I didn’t think I’d miss it but I was really feeling good). Today at the airport I’ve had 2 bananas, some green tea and some dried pineapple. Wanna press on with me? Give me some tips and compare notes? Then in 6 weeks I’ll be living on a cruise ship – that will be a challenge!

HA what you are eating sounds so much like what I end up eating. I always am good before dinner time when I realize I am under carbed and eat cooked stuff. I definitely know the feeling of feeling “less good” but not bad. I definitely want to press on with you! you have really motivated me. I love the idea of lemon juice with black pepper as a dressing. great recipe idea! I love that you are a profesh aerialist. One of the main reasons I feel motivated to eat more raw is because when I do I feel my athletic performance go up a ton! have you experienced that yet. It only happens I feel when you are close to fully raw and fully CARBED UP. Do you follow freelee the banana girl and other raw people on youtube? I am going to do a post about everyone I follow and have been learning from. OH AND are you on FB?

Hmmm I have not felt my athletic performance go up yet but I’m not that close to fully raw or carbed up probably :) I have noticed more energy which for me is a HUGE deal as I’m chronically fatigued. I’ve also gotten my period 2 months in a row and I don’t get one but maybe once every year or two usually. So I feel like that’s a good sign. However I’m struggling to figure out how much to eat and what. I’m not in a position to have a fridge and freezer full of fruit but I do find ways to eat mostly fruit and veg. at rehearsal today I brought a breakfast of 2 cups grapes, then I had a whole bag of dried fruit (not the best but i had it there), lunch was carrots and cherry tomatoes. I had plenty of energy. Now I’m home and I’ve had carrots, a little bit of hummus and – brace yourself – pita chips. Not ideal but I need some carbs. Rice and veg and beans would probably be better yeah? I do follow a little bit of free lee on youtube. I look forward to your post about who you follow and learn from! I feel like I’m on the right track but still in process you know? I haven’t figured out how to eat just fruit and veg and feel great yet especially because of my lifestyle, but I feel confident about the direction I’m headed!
